REVISIONS 2

● We would also like to see a revised abilities section that focuses less on the gadgets Conan has (as these will not be available to him in Hogwarts) and more on how his intelligence and other skills would fit in the word of Magic Draft. How will he adapt without the gadgets and what spells would he excel in?

He's a detective. One of, if not the best in his canon. Basically this means that he has incredible skills of observation, is good at reading criminal's intentions and is capable of putting together pieces of seemingly unrelated information to figure out the method and reasoning behind elaborate crimes. Conan has vast amounts of information memorized on hundreds of different topics. Most of them relating to solving murders. He has also shown other skills such as piloting aircraft, advanced marksmanship, knowledge of poisons and the human body and solving riddles and codes.

The only really unusual ability he has isn't so much an ability as it is a condition. A year ago he was poisoned by an experimental drug called APTX4869. It was supposed to kill him, but instead he shrank to the size of a first grader. As of now, there is no permanent cure although he has used some temporary cures to return to his true age for a few hours.

After arriving in magicdraft it will take a hard adjustment at first to accept the idea of magic. Up until this point his disbelief in magic has been a major part of his worldview. But once he accepts the reality of magic Conan will immediately try to learn as much as he can about why magic works. He has a compulsion to figure out why things work, and this will carry into his classes at Hogwarts.

Early areas of interest in magic are likely to be ways to use spells to support his detective work and to recreate the effects of his favorite gadgets. He might attempt to find a way to enchant soccer balls or slumber spells. Likewise, he would very interested in any kind of diagnostic spells.

Because of his intelligence and curiosity he is likely to catch up with coursework very quickly. Especially if it is challenging enough to engage his mind.

He will be very good at the parts of any classes involving theory or figuring out why something works. I expect him to get very good grades in History of Magic. His ability for code-solving and languages will make him very good at Ancient Runes. He has a talent for chemistry, as seen in a flashback where he concocted a smokebomb in chemistry class. This could easily be applied to potions.

He will not do as well with classes that depend on wandwork such as charms and transfiguration. He will be absolutely horrible at flying, due to the need to actually believe in the broom.

● Finally, some clarification about what year Conan would be placed in would be appreciated. If he acts and looks like a child, should he be placed in a lower class or would a class suited to his actual age preferred?

Conan is someone with the mind of a seventeen-year-old and the body of a seven-year-old. My main question here relates to how much will be known by the professors about the draftees. Would they know the real ages and real names of people who are lying about both? Or will they be asking the students how old they are?

If it is some kind of magic that decides it, then his age would be read as seventeen. But if anyone was to ask him his age Conan would inform them that he was 7.

Personally, I think it would be more interesting for plot development if he was assigned to the seventeen-year-old group. But I'm willing to work with however you decide.

Let me know if you need anything more!
