[Shinichi desperately attempts to formulate a plan through the pain. He couldn't allow himself to change back here. Not where anyone could find him. He would be completely vulnerable after the change. This costume had served him well when he had needed it to hide, but none of his gadgets were with him. He could only think of one desperate course of action. Still clutching at his chest as the waves of pulsing pain swept through his body, he slowly raises the communicator to his face and whispers to it in a voice hoarse and strained by pain.]

I hate ta say this Kudo, but we might hafta consider those possibilities.

Aah. If my memories are unreliable and they can replicate the aftermath of that incident to this extent, we have to assume they were watching.

Th' fact that they've been able ta conceal their identities fer this long raises a few flags.

That, and the fact that they were somehow able to maintain surveillance on us for that long without anyone noticing.

Th' culprits are more organized than we originally thought.

They're really confident on top of that ta allow us as much freedom as they do.

This is rapidly becoming an even bigger case than we thought.it seems more and more likely that it goes beyond any kind of simple kidnapping plot.

There could be ulterior motives or this could be a distraction fer somethin' else.

Either is possible. Whatever they hope to gain from this is still shrouded.

I spoke ta th' one known as Knowlton. He made a public broadcast statin' we got longer ranges on these devices.

I couldn't get him ta share anythin' remotely useful. Just "alright" there wasn't much emotion either.

Did he give any reasons for the change?

No. He even told me flat out that he didn't care if I thought he was lyin' or not.

So in this case at least, they aren't trying to create one of their tricks.

It doesn't make much sense though. Why upgrade our long distance range if we can already contact those anywhere within th' city an' even a little farther past that?

There has ta be a motive fer it.

The obvious reasoning from this is that they intend to expand beyond the city in some way.

That much is obvious, but it doesn't explain why.

They went through a lot of trouble ta discourage people from leaving th' town, so th' sudden change is a concern.

Unless by this they are saying that the people here can only leave the city while under their control.

We can't be sure 'til they make their next move.
