[A small boy, no older than six or seven, is peering into the camera with a look of deep concentration. Suddenly his expression subtly shifts into a childish expression of worry.]

Ne! Ne! Is anyone there? I just found this device here, and it seems a little like a cell phone. But my phone isn't working. Isn't that strange?

Is there a police officer anywhere? At school they said I should find one if I got lost. And I can't find Ran-neechan anywhere!

You must be near Latimir or Gohl Road... I'll come get you so just wait there. Is there some place you can hide until I get there?

Mmmm, I've had lots of practice at hide and go seek! But is there something I should be hiding from?

[Inwardly, Conan cringes at his own act. Had that bit been too much?]

[Rebecca is a bit taken aback at his reaction at first. It did seem a little strange that a little kid would be so at ease with the situation that he'd be bringing up hide and seek...but to each their own. She just shrugs it off.]

There are some pretty nasty monsters here, and some not so nice people. You should be okay, but it's better to stay out of sight just in case.

[That was an odd thing to say. But it wasn't out of the question for people to refer to criminals as monsters in front of kids.]

Okay, I'll be right there. Just call out when you see me.

[She checks her gun, carefully making sure it's off screen (No need to scare the kid more than he probably is), gives him a reassuring smile, turns off the video, and runs to find him.]

[Conan nods and shuts the video off. When she arrives in the right area she will find a tiny boy hiding in a patch of shadow near a building.]

[She jogs up, slightly out of breath, and waves to him.]

Hey there, are you Conan? I'm glad I finally found you!

[He was younger than she had originally expected...]

Has anyone you know contacted you?

[Conan steps out into the street with a skateboard held in both hands behind his back.]

No, I don't know anyone who's talked to me. But that's good, isn't it?

So you don't have anyone to stay with here? Why would it be good that you don't know anyone?

[She's still trying to puzzle out the skateboard too, looking at him intently. What a weird way to hold it...]

If no one I know is here, that means they're still back home, doesn't it?

Well, I suppose that makes sense. [It was a surprisingly mature sentiment for a kid.]

In that case would you like to stay with me? At the moment it's just me and my roommate, Jill, and she's really nice.

[She offers out a hand. Don't want to risk getting separated!]

Okay, if its just for a while.

[And as the seven-year-old he appeared to be it would be too suspicious to try and live by himself. Until he could solve this case he would need to find adults to act through.

Conan shifts his skateboard to one hand and reaches up with the other to take her hand.]
