[Conan stares out from his position and follows her movements worriedly. When she catches up with them he hastily puts on a smile.]

Don't worry, Ran-neechan! I'm fine! Adam saved me.

Just barely. We need to get to Discedo right now!

[He sees the pack starting to circle to them and growls. Persistant buggers...]

First, we gotta loose these pups.

[Okay. Maybe she'll spare a second to breathe, as they try to circle them, but she's alert all the same. She does look a little relieved when Conan smiles at her, but of course his words do nothing to stop her from worrying, seeing his injuries like that.]

Yeah, I noticed--

[She gives good hard kicks to the two of them who were trying to make their way in front, letting out a sigh.]

I can try to hold them back, but we've gotta make a run for it before we're surrounded. The subway's just up ahead...

"I don't think their eyesight is very good. Maybe they could be tricked." Conan eyes the surrounding creatures with calculation.

[Tricked? With what exactly? There wasn't much to use as a distraction. Adam took a quick look around and noticed a open barrel close by. If he could use his rod to tip it and startle the beasts, it can give them an opening long enough to run out.

But he couldn't do it while holding Conan so he puts the boy in Ran's arms.]

When you see an opening, run.

[In quick succession, he raises his weapon and smacks the barrel down, spilling the contents on the ferals close by. They yelped and started to scatter enough that a path was formed in front of the trio.]

Go!

[She looks around as well when Conan suggests tricking them, but indeed, there really isn't much. She'll have to commend Adam on his sharp thinking though, and when the ferrals' attention is broken up and they're distracted--

She does what he says, running.

Dashing into the subway station as she holds the door open for them.]

[Conan just does his best to hold on to Ran without getting in her way.]

[And Adam's right behind them, sprinting as fast as he could and to provide good cover for the kids. It wasn't long before they reached the terminal and he made the call to get the train to them.]

All aboard!

[She steps onto the train first then, panting--still running on the adrenaline from a few moments ago. The seats look more inviting than usual...

And after Adam steps onto the train with Conan in hand, she takes one.]

[Conan closes his eyes, sagging a little in relief as Adam steps on board. With the immedate adrenaline gone he begins to fully feel the pain of his injuries.]

[Right when he got in, Adam slumped in one of the seats completely exhausted. Breathing heavily, he pulled out his communicator and began to dial a frequency.]

I'm calling Harper and letting him know we're heading his way.

[After a moment, the pace of Ran's breathing slows to a normal pace. She can't seem to take her eyes of Conan and his injuries, which seem to be bothering him a lot more now than it did a few moments ago. She does hear what Adam says though, and is alert enough to ask about it.]

Is he a doctor...?

He says he is. I've talked to him before.

[He avoids Ran's gaze, not wanting to see the worry in her eyes.]

He's right. Owen's the one who helped me during that fog.

[He could feel the tension in the train car...something he really wanted to be gone.]

[She gives a bit of a nod, though it doesn't look like she feels any better about it. She lets out a sigh, looking once to both of them--

Noting how Conan is avoiding her.]

Okay...so?

Either of you wanna tell me what was going on out there?

[Like why the hell Conan was out there in the first place--

They've got a nice long sub ride to fill.]

I saw the broadcast and ran over as fast as I could.

I'm guessing with my communicator on, it recorded something and that's how you came to help us, right?

That's pretty much the long and short of it. I saw both broadcasts...and with how he looked I-I figured you might be heading towards the subway.

[She scoots a bit closer to Conan to get a better look at his injuries, frowning...]

What were you doing out there?

[He tries to shift away from her, but winces as the movement jars his ankle.]

I was bored, so I went for a walk.

[Eyebrow raise. So if he went for a walk, why have a skateboard and a soccer ball with you? Wait a minute...Conan was the only one in the area when the broadcast showed the ball hitting one of the ferals into a tree. And it wasn't a tap, it was like it was slammed into it.

Wh-why didn't you ask me to come with you? Or at least tell me?

[She raises her voice some, adding to Adam's question--which is a good one in and of itself. Though she knows it would not help his condition to get angry at him...]
