Tenth Deduction [Accidental Voice/Action for Housemates]

[Conan tosses and turns restlessly in his sleep, obviously struggling against a bad dream. All of a sudden he bolts straight up with a half-strangled scream and falls out of bed.  He doesn't even notice his hand knocking his communicator onto the floor.]

RAN!

[He looks around frantically for a moment, then slumps back to the ground.]

Just a dream, is it?  How embarrassing.

[He knew what had brought it on, of course. So many people had been attacked recently.  Some of them close friends.  And... he had been completely useless when Hattori had been attacked.  With this child's body he had been helpless to do anything more than watch over Kazuha and Ran.

He knew better.  Everyone was fine.  But all the same he found that he couldn't resist the urge to check on everyone.  He hastily stands up and begins to silently make his way toward Ran's room.]

It wasn't a pleasant one. [Conan's voice sounds faintly strained.] But it is nothing to worry about.

[He hesitates. At home, his mum would ask him what the dream was about or make him a cup of tea. But he wasn't anybody's mum, and he didn't think he'd be very good at asking what the dream was about, either.]

Oh...

Are you going to go right back to sleep? I think I'm going to go feed Claire since I'm awake.

[Translation: He'll stay up and talk, but since he's thirteen he's not going to outright offer.]

[Conan had no desire to talk about his nightmares with anyone. Much less a kid who shouldn't have to know anything about human monsters like Gin.]

[A lie. He had no intention of trying to sleep again after that.]

But waking up to someone screaming wakes you up a lot. So I'm not sleepy now.

Um...well, if you stay awake..I'm probably going to be awake too. But the Professor's probably going to wonder what's going on if I keep talking..so I should probably turn this off.
