It's strange isn't it?  That so many people would suddenly be here?  I wonder what the reason could be?

[He wanted to be out there investigating.  There was a possibility this had something to do with how the scientists were able to transport people here.

But... Ran had been very insistent about his promise to stay in bed until his injuries healed.  She would not be happy if he left.

Casting a wary glance at the door, he carefully throws back the covers and slides out of bed.  He winces slightly as he puts weight on his bad ankle, bu quickly leans against the wall and hobbles over to the window.

I'd rather not hold onto it any longer than necessary.

[He starts and halts nearly a dozen different responses, with the result that he only sounds like he is sputtering.]

[He laughs nervously. She was even scarier as an adult than she hd been as a child.]

[You have no idea. She hands him the bag with the pill in it.]

Now, do you have a liquid to take it with?

I think Ran left some in here. [He takes the bag and limps back over to the other side of the room.]

[yeah, how about no. She stands in front of him to stop him.]

You go rest. I'll get the water. Just tell me where it is. [Notice that her tone is soft.]

[He sighs and sinks back to the floor. Glad, though he would never admit it, to get the weight off his injured leg.]

On the table by the bed.

All right. [She goes and gets him a glass of water, coming back with the pill in one hand, and the glass in the other.]

You'll need for bandages after this. Where do you keep them?

I keep a medkit under the bed. There should be some there.

[She goes over to the bed, reaches under it, and pulls the kit out.]

All right. You can take the pill now.

[He nods and takes it quickly.]

It may take a few moments for the pill to take effect.

[Wait a sec.] Is anyone from our world here?

Understood. [He waits for the familiar pain to begin.]

Hattori and Ran are both here.

[It should start up relatively soon.]

Hm.....what should we do if she asks questions? Just say that Edogawa-kun left and you came? [But what are the odds of her believing that?]

[And he cuts off his words with a hiss as the pain begins.]

[She brings her gaze up to him as he hisses. Seeing him go through pain wasn't a joy to her, even if it would help him.]

[An hour later he'll step out of the bathroom wearing some of Hattori's spare clothes.]
